With the 2021/22 season still fresh in our minds, planning for 2022/23 has already begun. These past few weeks we have sewn up 3 fresh additions to add onto our Turf squad as well as 2 returning players from Injury.
2 of the Bellarine’s finest cricketers Dale Kerr and Ned Cooper have decided the time is right to take up the challenge of Turf Cricket. Ned who’s 25, last season made almost 700 for Anglesea’s 1st XI whilst also making 520 runs last winter for Darwin CC. Dale who’s 27, also brings with him 109 wickets and 850 runs during the last 3 seasons for Anglesea. Not only do the pair bring along with them some handy accolades they also have won 5 premierships each in recent years.
Along with them comes the returning Curtly Balshaw. For the past 2 years Curtly went back to his home club Collendina and took on a coaching role. Previously Curt had 22 outings in our First XI for 600 runs and a plethora of balls saved in the covers. After recently becoming a Dad, Curtly who’s still only 26, returns to the Nest ready to take his game to the next level.
The last 2 additions to our squad are familiar faces. Lachy Hayes and Harry Vivian will both be fit and ready to go come Round 1 after the pair both missed the entire season with knee injuries. Both boys are nearly back to full fitness and we can’t wait to see them back on the park when Round 1 comes around.
